CITB supporting apprentices hit by Shaylor collapse
CITB is in close touch with the administrators of collapsed West Midlands construction firm, Shaylor, to support the four apprentices hit by possible redundancy.
This will mean finding alternative placements with local employers to ensure that disruption to the apprentices’ training is minimised. It is important they continue their training careers as seamlessly as possible. CITB and its partners, such as Build UK, are in touch with local employers to match the apprentices with new positions.
Last year, CITB found new placements for 70% of the more than 1100 apprentices hit by the collapse of construction giant, Carillion.
Gillian Cain, CITB Head of Apprenticeships, said: “Although the number of apprentices affected is small in comparison with the Carillion case, the impact on individuals’ lives is no different. We will therefore be offering as much support as possible and monitoring the ongoing situation.”
