Jamie Hepburn MSP visits NCC Scotland
Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training, visited the National Construction College, Inchinnan, Scotland, to meet with apprentices, employees and employers.
On Tuesday 23 August, the Minister met with apprentices from a range of more than 140 courses available at NCC Scotland and was taken on a tour of the site to view its first-class, industry-focused facilities.
The visit was also an opportunity to discuss the construction industry’s needs with local employers, including: Arvill Plant Hire, CCL Interiors, GAP Group, Scot JCB and Taylor Roofing.
Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training Jamie Hepburn said:
“We continue to work collaboratively with organisations in the construction sector and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to ensure that apprenticeships play a vital role in Scotland’s economic recovery following the Covid pandemic – which has impacted the number of opportunities available in construction for young people.
“Apprenticeships provide people of all ages with the tools to develop valuable skills and gives young people a chance to build up their confidence to kickstart their career.
“It was great to attend the National Construction College in Inchinnan and meet apprentices to hear first-hand their experiences and future career aspirations, and to also understand how they can benefit employers in the local area.”
Tim Balcon, CEO of CITB, said:
