The project will develop a 'Carbon Coach Course', this course will be a comprehensive skills programme for construction apprenticeships, introducing the topic of carbon reduction and best practice energy management to attendees.
The project will equip the industry to respond to the 2025 objective 'Driving Carbon out of the Built Environment 2025'.
- Develop four 'Carbon Coach' modules: Climate Change; Energy; Energy Management and Carbon Reduction
- Pilot with cohort of 40 apprentices
- Development of five case studies.

Completed project summary
The project finished in December 2017. In total 113 individuals took part in the pilot phase including Esh Group apprentices, staff members, supply chain partners and customers, with 75 successfully completing the course.
Esh has now made this course mandatory for all their Technical and University apprentices; have entered into a partnership with Northumbrian Water to offer the course to their apprentices and made the course available to a number of students at Northumbrian University who are working on an MSc in Safety, Health and Environment Management.
