Specialist
The project will provide training focused on heritage construction. Thirty individuals currently following NVQ2 and 3 will benefit from this training. A third of buildings in Wales were built before 1919 and are different in both the materials used and the structure as compared to modern buildings. Existing NVQ courses provide no training on make and model of old buildings. Yet it is likely that learners will be required to work on old buildings during their career. This training will ensure the preservation of heritage.
- 30 apprentices to receive training
- This training will include:
- Repair & maintenance of traditional buildings
- Building with stone and lime mortars
- Plastering with lime carpentry repairs
- Timber framing

End of project summary
The project finished in April 2017. The project encountered some difficulties with 26 apprentices completing the training but only 13 achieving the L3 Award. Some good lessons learned emerged about training different trades and abilities together.
