The project will design, develop and pilot a training and upskilling programme. This programme will train new entrants under an apprentice framework, and upskill existing staff.
The programme will be based around a new NVQ diploma for “Trenchless Technology Operatives” which is linked to a CSCS skilled worker card.
- Develop the Peter Duffy Limited modular training course and pilot with 280 candidates
- Deliver Operatives course to 52 employees
- Upskill training team at PDL (Peter Duffy Limited) to deliver and assess qualifications

Project summary
Peter Duffy Limited are now a registered training centre.
A pilot group of 6 operatives have successfully completed the NVQ Level 2 programme and obtained their blue Skilled Worker CSCS cards. They are the first in the country to have been assessed for the Sewerage & Drainage Maintenance Operations NVQ while completing repairs using Trenchless Technology. A further 50 people will complete an NVQ over the next 2 years. 142 members of staff have also undertaken sector specific individual training modules and 7 people achieved Level 3 PTTLS/TAQA teaching qualifications.
