SVQ in Floorcovering (Construction: Resilient/Textile at SCQF Level 6)

The Workshop provides the opportunity for those with considerable skills and experience but no formal qualifications who work in the floorcovering resilient/textile occupational area to gain an SVQ SCQF Level 6 qualification by demonstrating their competence through evidence from their day-to–day work.

CITB Levy Registered Customers are eligible to claim a £600 Qualification Grant on completion of this course, and can also apply for further funding with the Skills and Training Fund.

Course content

For this qualification delegates will need to attend a half day workshop at NCC Inchinnan, which will take them through:

• Our organisation and how we provide support throughout the programme
• The qualification they are working towards
• Assessment route and methods (designed to suite the individual)
• The people involved in the process
• How evidence of competency will be collected and recorded

After attending the half day workshop, delegates will know how to collect evidence while working on site, how to record it, and who to contact if they require additional support.

On completion of a ‘work based portfolio’ delegates will be assessed by a combination of observation, professional discussion and employer validation appropriate to their experience.

Initial assessment questionnaire

All candidates are required to complete an initial assessment questionnaire which will be used to ascertain the suitability of work experience required to carry out the qualification. This should be completed and returned by e-mail to NCC.AccountManager@citb.co.uk

Qualifications you get

Once the delegate has met all the assessment criteria and been signed off by the assessor they will be awarded an SVQ in Floorcovering (Construction: Resilient/Textile at SCQF Level 6.

The next steps

Your SVQ Certificate will enable you to apply for a CSCS skilled operatives card. You must have also passed the Relevant CITB health and safety test within two years of application. You are responsible for applying for the relevant CSCS card but we will provide information, advice and guidance on how to apply. Achievement of this qualification provides opportunities to progress to technical, supervisory and management qualifications.
